How Equipment Data Privacy & Calibration Records Work
Accredited calibration labs follow strict legal data retention mandates while ensuring 100% customer confidentiality.
⚖️ 1. Legal Record Mandate
ISO 17025 mandates that accredited labs retain technical calibration records (serial numbers, test math, NIST standards) for 5–10 years for safety forensic audits.
🔒 2. Strict Confidentiality
Under ISO 17025 Clause 4.2, customer calibration data is legally protected and never published publicly or shared with third-party competitors.
🛡️ 3. Role-Gated Access
Calibration certificates on NDT EXCHANGE are visible strictly to the specific equipment owner and certifying lab. Competitors cannot view your fleet.
📄 4. Hardware Scope Only
Calibration records store hardware linearity & gain metrics — never proprietary plant blueprints, wall loss maps, or facility locations.
External / Third-Party Calibration Shop
If equipment is calibrated by an offline lab without an NDT EXCHANGE account, owners enter the lab name in plain text (labName) and upload the PDF certificate directly. The record stays valid without requiring lab registration.
External Equipment Owner / Client
When an accredited lab calibrates equipment for a walk-in client without an account, the lab logs ownerCompanyName and sends a 1-click claim invite. When the client registers later, the certificate history automatically populates their fleet.
